After the conference in Anaheim last Saturday we will get back to I Peter 3 beginning with verse 18. If I can find a group walking precints for Prop 8 (haven't found anyone yet) I will probably join them meaning that I would leave around 9 AM
The following Saturday is the Call at Qualcomm Stadium- we will have a sign up for carpooling soon.
I hope to see you Sat.

We had a great time looking at I Peter 3:1-7 last Saturday and we will pick up with verse 8 this coming Saturday. Now that we have talked about marriage we can move on to suffering for doing good, controlling our tongue, and always being prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in us.
Also, Calvary Chapel is having a men's conference in Anaheim on October 18 with a full schedule of speakers for men. Saturday we can discuss if we might be interested in going up for the conference.
God Bless & I'll see you on Saturday,
Pastor Frank

Welcome to October! We will be jumping into I Peter 3 this Saturday and if we haven't seen you for a while please make it a point to come on Saturday. This chapter deals with the marriage relationship, suffering for doing good, and witnessing with gentleness and respect.
I Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect

Hey- we made it through the first ten verses of I Peter 2 last Saturday and we will pick up with verse 11 this Saturday. Please read at least the rest of the chapter and come ready to discuss it and remember...
1 Peter 2:12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Only Eddie and I came last week (and he was very late) so we will try again with I Peter 2 this coming Saturday.
Also, Dorothy Smarr needs a new patio cover and has requested our help in disassembling her current cover. This needs to be done sometime in October and if you can help it will be greatly appreciated. I'll let you know when I have a firm date- it will most likely be a Saturday after the study.
Lina is the midst of putting together the 4th Quarter ministry schedule and we are really short of ushers- if you can help with being an usher please let me know.
See you on Saturday! God Bless,

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend. We will get back into our study of I Peter as we look at chapter 2. This chapter looks at who we are in Christ, our place in God's family, and the world. Verses four and five say:
"As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
Please join us as we get back into our study after a week off.

Following our two week excursion looking into the accuracy of the book of Mormon we decided to take a couple of weeks to look at the Bible and History and then to begin studying I Peter.
It really is a blessing to have the Bible as our Holy Scripture because it is the truth revealed for us for all time. How do we study the History of the Bible? Most study Bibles have a section on the History of the Bible. Many of Josh McDowell's books have a lot of useful information on this topic, and, of course, there is always the internet.

After viewing the "The Bible Vs. The Book of Mormon," last Saturday we decided to watch a video put out by the same church called DNA vs. the Book of Mormon. This is a little more technical but also very interesting and we will watch it if I remeber to bring it and if I forget we will sit around and stare at each other for an hour and a half. Again, if you have had an interesting exchange with a Mormon about their beliefs please leave a summary as a comment on the blog.

Hello Gentlemen:
This week we will take a break from studying different chapters to watch a video that compares and contrasts the Bible with the Book of Mormon (WE WILL BE WATCHING IT IF ALFRED REMEMBERS TO BRING IT BACK, otherwise we will sit around and stare at each other for an hour and a half)
If you have an experience of talking to a Mormon(s) about your faith please leave a comment on the blog as I would be interested in your experiences.

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." This is the opening verse of Romans chapter 13 which is the chapter that we will be looking at this Saturday beginning at 8:00. What is the Christian's responsibility to a secular government. Have you ever broken a law because you felt that as a Christian you couldn't obey the law and God at the same time? These are the kinds of questions that we will be looking at. I will be leading the discussion and I hope to see you there.

Men's Study Update
We finished James last Saturday! Happy 4th of July and thanks for your input to the questions I posed last week. Here, to the best of my recollection is what we came up with:
1) Do you want to meet the following Saturday which is the day after 4th of July? No- we will not be meeting this Saturday- enjoy your celebrations!
2) How often do we want to have the men's breakfasts? We looked at about every other month, trying to coordinate a breakfast with beginning a new book or study topic.
3) What do we want to study after James? We determined to continue what we started by looking at chapters that have blessed us greatly- Our "favorites" if you will.
On Saturday, July 12, John Wallace will lead us in a discussion of Romans 12
Cody Fern (we are blessed to have Cody coming to our study) mentioned Romans 3 - especially verse 23.
Eddie brought up Matthew 6, especially verse 33.
If you have a favorite chapter, please post it on a comment on the blog.
When we are finished with the chapters we will move on to an epistle to be named later.
4) Do we want to continue with the blog (participation has been very limited) or just do this by straight e-mail? We will continue on with the blog for now- please feel free to post you comments
Again, NO study this Saturday- We will se you on July 12th

This Saturday we will continue on looking at James 1, picking up with verse 19. A lot of our focus will be on accepting God's word which is planted in us- see verse 21.
As I shared in my message on Sunday, I was blessed that after studying James 1:27 (see below) during the week, Annette and I came across a widow in distress as part of our evangelism ministry and will be able to help her this Saturday.
Also, after the service, Dorothy Smarr came up and told me that she will need help dismantling a wooden patio cover in September. If you can help Dorothy, we will talk on Saturday.
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Also we discussed refreshments and decided that we will provide orange and if anyone wants to bring snacks they are welcome to do so. Alfred said he would bring something this Saturday.

Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you get to study James chapter 1. Having wrapped up Romans 8 last week, we move on to James 1- a chapter recommended by Pastor Frank- a very practical chapter in a very practical book. Read it with a pure heart and we'll discuss it this Saturday at 8:00 AM.

This week we will have a shift in focus as we begin to look at chapters rather than men of the Bible.
The first chapter we will look at will be Romans 8. This awesome chapter begins by telling us that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus and concludes with the a beautiful statement that nothing can separate us from the love of God- NOTHING! Please take some time to study it this week and we will have the opportunity to share our insights with each otherSaturday morning at 8AM

Hey, it's Jude! That's right we are going to look at Jude this Saturday. Jude is probably best known for the 25 verse letter that bears his name. It is found right before Revelation in the New Testament. It is generally accepted by Bible scholars that Jude is short for Judas and is one of Jesus brothers listed in Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3. John 7:5 tells us that early in Jesus' ministry even his brothers didn't believe in Him but after the resurrection, Jude and James became leaders in the church.
The focus of Jude's letter is fighting false teaching but there are also some very interesting things that aren't found anywhere else in Scripture. See you on Saturday!

Hey Guys,
This Saturday we will meet at 8 AM but rather than study an individual we will be looking at responses to the Resurrection- what we are asking is that everyone read the accounts of the Resurrection as recorded in the Gospels and come prepared to discuss how one of the Bible characters responded to the Resurrection. It can be one of the first women to come to the tomb or the disciples on the road Emmaus or ...?
The gospels accounts of the Resurrection can be found in Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, and John 20 & 21.
Hope to see you there!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the breakfast last Saturday! This week we will be looking at Cornelius, a centurion who lived in the city of Caeserea. Cornelius' story is found in Acts 10. Hello Gentlemen:
This Saturday we will be looking at Aaron, Moses' brother. Obviously there is A LOT of info on Aaron in the Old Testament. He is a prominent character in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & the first 10 chapters of Deuteronomy.
Most of the other times that Aaron is mentioned refer to "the descendents of Aaron."
Hebrews 5:4, 7:11, Acts 7:40, Psalms 77:20,99:6, 105:26, 106:16, 115:10-12, 118:3, 135:9
As noted, there is much about Aaron in the Bible- read as much as you can and look for some"Jewels" to share with the group
Also, we have a men's breakfast scheduled for March 8. We will divide responsibilities this Saturday. I hope you can all come.

Also, I forgot to mention it on Saturday but I think it's time for another breakfast so let's plan a breakfast for Saturday, March 8. We can discuss this more next Saturday.
Also, Eddie is going to (I don't know if he has at this time) to open up the blog so that you don't need to have an account to go in and leave comments so it will be easier to discuss topics and ask questions on the blog.

It was scary to write that but this Saturday we will already be in February.
This week we will be looking at Job. Because Job is a long book, we are asking that everyone come with one thing that is important to them to share about Job. The only reference about Job that I could find outside of the book of Job is Ezekiel 14:20.
As always we start at 8:00 and hope to see you there.

Hello men-
Last Saturday we didn't discuss what to discuss next Saturday, so after discussing this with Eldon we are going to discuss not one man but the men of Issachar described in 1 Chronicles 12:32 as ..."men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do-200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command"
We will look at...
What does it mean to understand the times?
How can we understand the times today?
How does understanding the times help us to know what to do?
...anything else you want to talk about

Hi Men,
This week we will have an interesting contrast to last week's study of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as we look at Lot- a man who got too comfortable in the ungodly environment of Sodom and Gomorroh.
Lot is mentioned in:
Genesis 11:27,31
12:4,5
13:1-14:16
18:16-33 (This passage doesn't mention Lot by name but tells
a lot about how God views Sodom and Gomorroh)
19:1-36
Luke 17:28-29
II Peter 2:7-10
See you on Saturday!

Hi Men:
This week we will be looking at three men who are linked together in Scripture-Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. They are better known as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego- that's right the fiery furnace guys. There story is recorded in the first three chapters of Daniel- primarily chapter 3. I hope to see you at 8 AM
God Bless,
Pastor Frank
P.S. For those who would like to stay, we will be beginning our Evangelism trianing course at 10 AM
